Project 365

I saw this awesome idea from http://captureyour365.com/ !!

The idea is to take a picture a day for every day of 2013.  This website has a lot of wonderful suggestions for your daily picture.  And nowadays, with most cell phones having photography capability, it should be easy to take a picture every day.

I am going to give it a try.  Although, I am already starting out 3 days behind :(  I hope that you enjoy all of my photos and the stories behind them.  PLEASE feel free to leave a comment.  I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on each of them!!

Day 22 - January 22, 2013

Our dog Faith - the dog of many faces!!  In this picture, she is laying on her back playing with her rope toy.  We go through at least one rope toy a week.  Thank goodness they don't cost too much!

Day 21 - January 21, 2013

Today is a holiday (Yay!) and a Monday (Yuck!!).  Monday . . . meaning tomorrow is Tuesday and I have to go into work and drive into Boston to go to my office.  I have such a nice little work spot at home and it is nice and comfy.  Makes it very difficult to actually GO into the office.  Because I am feeling a bit grumpy about having to go into my REAL office tomorrow, I took a picture of my little HOME office.

Day 20 - January 20, 2013

Wow!  Some sun this morning.  This is taken out my back door.

Day 19 - January 19, 2013

My new grandson is just absolutely adorable!  I cannot get enough pictures of him.  I love the wrinkled little forehead in this one.  Here he is, now 10 days old.

Day 18 - January 18, 2013

One of my passions is gardening.  It's pretty hard to do much gardening in New England in January.  I only have one plant inside my home - not sure why - I might have to rectify that in the near future!!  My office at work is a totally different story.  I have about a dozen plants in my office at work.  Anyway . . . my picture today is of my one plant at home.

Day 17 - January 17, 2013

I love glass - especially cut glass - like in lamps and old perfume bottles.  While roaming around looking for pictures to take and practicing my photography skills, I shot a couple of pictures of a lamp on my bathroom counter.  They came out very pretty.

Day 16 - January 16, 2013

Snow, freezing rain, sleet, then back to snow again.  That was the weather here today.  But it was so beautiful outside.  I love when the snow is fresh and the branches of the trees are all covered.  Makes it look like a Winter wonderland.

I took about forty pictures during the day.  Some really awful but several that weren't bad.  The sky was so gray today that the ground and the trees practically blended in with it.  This made my pictures almost look like they were shot in black and white rather than in color.  But in a way, that was what made them look so pretty.  I actually chose two pictures to post today.

Day 15 - January 15, 2013

I took the BEST picture of our cat today!  I am really pleased with it.  It seems to actually catch what a loving and sweet boy he is.

His name is Rocky Balboa.  We have had him since the day he was born.  He is now about 13 yrs. old I think and sadly, his age is starting to really show.  He doesn't go out and run around as much as he used to.  Nor does he bring home the surprises for us that he used to . . . not that I really mind.  But his love has not waned a single bit.  We call him the "bathroom cat" because we have an old, comfortable chair in our bathroom that he sleeps in all day long except when we happen to go in to actually use the bathroom.  Then, he will hop down from the chair and weave through our legs while we use the toilet!!

Here he is - Mr. Rocky Balboa

Day 14 - January 14, 2013

Today's picture is of my backyard.  With the warmer weather that we have been having, I can actually see some of the grass.  I don't think that will last very long though since they are talking more snow arriving Wednesday and again maybe on Friday.  It's only January but I already can't wait to get out in my yard and get my gardens going.  My husband said yesterday that he actually saw a Robin in the yard!  I think it was wishful thinking :)

Day 13 - January 13, 2013

Ok . . . I am going to cheat again.  But how can I not when I have such an adorable new grandson that I haven't gotten to see in person yet???

As you will be sure to notice going forward, I am a HUGE football fan.  Or should I say FANATIC?  And the Patriots are my team with Tom Brady being my favorite QB of all time (and not just because he's a good quarterback).  Everything is about football during the months of July through February.  And everything is about wishing there was football during the months of March through June.

When I found out that we were going to have a new grandson, the first thing that I did was go out and buy him some Patriot clothes.  This picture is of my new grandson  (at only 4 days old) witnessing his first Patriot football game sporting his Tom Brady jersey!!  AWESOME!

Day 12 - January 12, 2013

The past couple of days have been fairly warm (in the low 40's).  But with quite a bit of snow still on the ground, we have had melting but we have also had a lot of fog.  So much fog that we have had weather advisories for Fog!!  So I took a few pictures on our street of the fog.  Pretty but in an eerie kind of way.

Day 11 - January 11, 2013

My picture today is a picture of my dog Faith.  She is the sweetest, most lovable dog I have ever known.  She thinks she is a human.  We have nicknamed her "UMA" (for Up My A*$)!! I work from home a couple of days a week and she will climb up in my chair behind me and fall asleep.  Now mind you, she is NOT a small dog.  She is a 55 lb. American Staffordshire Terrier!  When the last of our children moved out, we got empty nest syndrome and my husband wanted to get a dog.  I was very wary at first because I have never been much of a dog person.  But, I gave in.  We got Faith when she was only 7 weeks old and was so tiny that she fit into our hands.  She was so adorable and I instantly fell in love :).  Surprise! Surprise! The first year was very trying as she was sooooo active and  . . . well . . . a puppy!  She still is but has calmed down considerably and is a really well behaved dog now that she is 3.  Faith is so spoiled though.  She sleeps with us every night (right in between us) and goes to Doggie Day Care every day.  I am sure that since Faith is our only child still living at home, you will get an opportunity to see MANY more pictures of her.

This is a picture of Faith "kissing" my husband.

Day 10 - January 10, 2013

We are experiencing a bit of a January thaw here today.  It actually got up into the 40's!!  But the sun was shining bright and the day was gorgeous.  We live on approx. 20 acres and have a training facility for hunting dogs behind us with a lot of wide open space.  I went for a walk out there with my camera today.  The breeze was brisk but the sky was pretty.  My camera clicked away and I came home with over 60 pictures.  Quite a few of them weren't that great - but there were a few that I was pretty pleased with.

My picture today shows the pretty blue sky, the crisp white snow and the beautiful, wide open spaces :)

Day 9 - January 9, 2013

My picture today is a VERY special picture.  I am cheating somewhat because I didn't actually take the picture.  But . . . if I had been there and had been able to take this picture, it DEFINITELY would have been my picture of the day.

This is a picture of my brand new Grandson born this morning at 10:20 am.  He lives far away from us so I couldn't be there to take his picture and cuddle with him.  I can't wait to be able to do so, though!  He is a healthy 7 lb., 4 oz., 21" bouncing baby boy with a full head of hair.  And his Mommy and Daddy did a great job.  My husband says that he is so proud that his jaw is tired from smiling :)

So WELCOME DEAR CALEB!!

Day 8 - January 8, 2013

Today's picture just happened by chance.  I worked from home today and at lunch time, I decided to go outside with my camera and take some pictures.  I have an awesome Canon Rebel that my son bought me for Mother's Day almost three years ago and I am practicing very hard to become a photographer - for a hobby, not for a profession.  I spent close to an hour and took at least 50 pictures.  I was sure that one of these pictures would be my picture for the day.

Then this evening, I went to go pick up our dog Faith from doggy daycare.  I got out of my truck and . . . the sky was amazing!  I just had to take a picture.  With my iPhone and not my Canon!  It turned out that this spur of the moment photo was the best one of the day.  I hope that you like it as much as I do.

Day 7 - January 7, 2013

My picture today was taken at 7 am this morning from my office window.  I work on the 19th floor of a building in the Financial District of Boston.  This is a view of Boston Harbor and the runways at Logan airport at sunrise.  I think I have an awesome view from my window - it's actually a "corner office" without the "corner office" status :)

Day 6:  January 6, 2013

Today, I chose a picture of my husband.  He is probably one of the biggest Patriot fans in the world.  The Patriot Twitter site was having a contest where if you uploaded a picture of an old Patriot hat, you could possibly win a new Patriot hat.  So I asked my husband to model his oldest hat so that I could enter to win him a new one.  Normally, he hates having his picture taken so I was really surprised when he agreed to let me.  Of course, that's probably only because it had to do with the Patriots :)  So . . . here he is!!

Day 5: January 5, 2013

My picture today is of one of the favorite things in my home - my fireplace.  We have a fire in our fireplace almost every single night.  I love the coziness and the intense, deep to the bones kind of warmth.  I will never want to live anywhere again that does not have a fireplace.  Do you have a fireplace?  If you do, what do you like (or dislike) the most about it?

Day 4:  January 4, 2012

My very first picture in my 365 project is of our dog Faith.
